A family had a generous covered lanai that sat empty most of the year. Afternoon sun made it unusable until late, and once the sun dropped the insects took over entirely.
We assessed the opening, reinforced the header where the housing would fix, and installed a motorized retractable screen across the full span with a solar control mesh chosen for that west facing elevation.
The lanai is now the most used room in the house. The screen comes down at dinner time and rolls completely out of sight by morning, leaving the clear view of the yard exactly as it was.

What is a Magnatrack retractable screen?
It is a motorized screen that runs in concealed side tracks and rolls up into a housing when not in use. It gives you insect and sun control on demand, then disappears so the opening looks completely unscreened.
How wide an opening can be screened?
These systems cover spans far wider than a conventional screen door, which is why they suit lanais, patio openings and garages. We measure your opening and confirm the exact maximum during the site visit.
How is the screen operated?
By motor, using a remote or wall control. Automation options are available so the screen can be integrated with other controls in the home.
What happens in high winds?
The screen is designed to be retracted in severe weather, and we cover the recommended operating conditions at handover. It is a comfort and insect system rather than a storm shutter, and we are clear about that distinction.
Does it block the view?
You look through the mesh rather than at it, so the view stays largely intact. Different mesh options trade a little visibility for more sun and glare control, and we show you samples before you choose.
